Our Little Art Lover

15 09 2006

We’ve discovered a new hindrance to getting Sophia to sleep – the artwork on the walls.  If I’m sitting in the living room, it’s the three paintings over the couch.  If I’m in the nursery, it’s the painting above the rocker.  She’ll crane her head into unnatural positions to stare at it.  If we’re in the bedroom, it’s the painting over the bed.

Her favorite is Van Gogh, and her favorite Van Gogh is “Starry Night.”

We may end up with bare walls before this is over…

More pictures to come this weekend.

Attack Dog and Family Time

5 09 2006

On one of our extended walks a few days ago, we got attacked by a lunatic German shepherd. The whole family went into defense mode: Tricia and I yelled at the dog and threw our bodies in the way, prepared to be eaten by Cujo before letting our daughter be harmed.  Bodhi jumped right to the defense, taking on a dog that was about 15 times his size. He has the cuts on his head to prove his bravery. In the scuffle, Bodhi’s leash, which was still in my hand, wrapped around Sophia’s stroller, and as the dogs continued to go at it, the stroller tipped. Luckily, the leash wrapped all 5 of us (Tricia, myself, Sophia, and two dogs) in a tight little space, and I was able to catch the stroller.

The owner came running out, explaining how the shepherd would never hurt anyone, and he’s just a little over-excitable. Bodhi’s cuts prove otherwise, and, seriously, who can’t train a German Shepherd properly? Poor little Bodhi…it took about a half mile before he pulled his tail out from between his legs and started wagging it again.

Sophia got to spend a lot of time with family this Labor Day weekend, and got to meet a lot of the second cousins and “greats” (Great Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles). It was a good weekend, and I’ll post pictures soon.
